License2HOWL Scholarships

The A-State Alumni Association offers License2HOWL scholarships funded by sales of the A-State license plates. Each year, eight incoming freshmen will receive $5,000 ($2,500 for the fall semester and another $2,500 for the spring semester).  Students who receive the A-State Scholar scholarship will not be considered, but incoming freshmen are urged to apply for all scholarships for which they qualify. These scholarships are renewable; recipients must remain a full-time student in good standing and have a minimum 3.25 GPA. They must also submit a renewal essay as directed by the Alumni Association.

Funding for these scholarships comes from Arkansans who choose the A-State license plate available through the Arkansas Department of Finance and Administration. The Arkansas General Assembly approved the issuance of official collegiate license plates for scholarships in 1993. These plates cost an additional $35 per year, $25 of which goes to the scholarship fund and is tax deductible.

The application process for incoming freshmen for the fall of 2024 is open from October 1, 2023 until February 1, 2024.
