Homecoming 2004 Highlights
On Friday morning, October 15, 2004, members of the Class of 1954 were honored at a brunch celebrating the Golden Anniversary of their graduation. Special guests included the members of the Golden Anniversary Club which is reserved for those alumni who graduated 50 or more years ago.
That evening, the 2004 Distinguished Alumni awards were presented to Steve Edwards of Marianna, Charles Rasberry and Calvin Smith of Jonesboro, and Kathy Brittain White of Chapel Hill, North Carolina.
Saturday saw an array of reunions at individual academic colleges including Business, Communications, and Nursing & Health Professions. There were special events, alumni golf tournaments and an ASU baseball alumni reunion game. The Strong Turner Alumni Chapter presented its Pioneer Award to Mrs. Ellen Turner Strong of Hot Springs at their Honors Recognition program. Alumnae and actives from Chi Omega Fraternity were on campus to dedicate a new fountain located west of the Student Union. This is one of ASU’s newest landmarks and is a gift to the University from the organization.
Tailgate City at Indian Stadium was packed with people dressed in red and black prior to the Homecoming football game against Troy State. The Indians won with a score of 13 - 9.
Following the game, the ASU Alumni Association’s 5th Quarter Party was held at the Holiday Inn featuring DJ Jason Pedigo and singer Barrett Baber. The Holidome was rocking with Indian fans who joined us for this final event of the weekend. |
