The invitations to formally interview on campus come after recent meetings Dr. Welch conducted with the Chancellor Search Advisory Committee. The advisory committee, consisting of 20 members representing faculty, staff, students, alumni, and community representatives, reviewed 28 applications for the position. After consulting professional references and receiving feedback and input from committee members, Welch extended invitations to the three finalists.
Candidates will interview on campus during the month of February, with specific dates to be announced soon. The finalists will meet with the advisory committee, faculty, staff, students, community members, and other administrative and governance groups during the interview sessions. Dr. Welch has indicated a desire to have a new Chancellor named by the end of February.
“I am extremely pleased with the quality of these three finalists. Each of these individuals has a stellar record of providing strong leadership at prestigious institutions of higher education. We are seeking a leader who can move this university forward in the areas of student learning, research, and community service, and these candidates have significant experience in each of those areas, “ Welch said. “I was also most pleased with the efforts of the Chancellor Search Advisory Committee during this process. Each member provided thoughtful and constructive feedback regarding the process, and I was elated at the amount of consensus among the group. It became clear that these three individuals possessed the skill sets that we are seeking in our next chancellor, and I was delighted that we were able to move the process along this quickly. There is no doubt that the committee was very excited about these candidates and what they could bring to our university.”
