Nominations for Distinguished Alumni

Created in 1984 by the ASU Alumni Association, this annual award recognizes ASU alumni who have distinguished themselves professionally, in their community, and through service to Arkansas State University. 

Recipients are chosen by the ASU Alumni Association Board of Directors from nomination forms submitted by alumni and friends of ASU. The Distinguished Alumni Awards represent the highest alumni honor from Arkansas State University.

AWARD CRITERIA

To be considered, an individual must:

1. Be an alumnus of ASU, though not necessarily a graduate
2. Be distinguished in his or her profession or life’s work and must have received some previous recognition from peers
3. Be a person of such integrity, stature, demonstrated ability and renown that the faculty, staff, students and alumni of the University will take pride in, and be inspired by, this recognition
4. Have demonstrated a continuing interest in Arkansas State University and in the ASU Alumni Association by contributing time, talent or financial commitment to one or more programs benefiting ASU
5. Be an individual who, in deed or action, reflects and recognizes the importance of his or her education at Arkansas State University, who demonstrates pride in alma mater, and whose interest and loyalty are evident

In addition to the nomination form, you may submit up to six pages of information for the selection committee’s consideration.  This may include a vita, newspaper or magazine clippings, letters of support, etc.  Please be as concise as possible in order to facilitate the sharing of this information with the committee. Numerous letters of recommendation are not a significant factor in the committee’s deliberation. The maximum number of pages for any nomination, including supporting materials is seven 8“ x 11” pages.

Nominations received by the deadline will be presented to the selection committee for evaluation for the current year’s awards. Materials received after the deadline will be considered in the following year. A nomination is retained for three consecutive years. There is no limit on the number of times a person can be nominated. Members of the ASU Alumni Association Board of Directors are not eligible for consideration.
